This just in: The 7.8 magnitude earthquake moved New Zealand closer to Australia.
Yes, according to scientists, the massive earthquake last week that struck the southwest Fiordland region of the South Island has made New Zealand bigger, and therefore closer, to Australia.
How much closer?
About a foot.
Wow. Air fares between the two islands should be lower now.
