A website called Missingmoney.com has a national database to search for unclaimed funds. Advertised as "MissingMoney.com is a database of governmental unclaimed property records", the search is free, but it appears that registration is required. Please be aware that not all states are listed, nor are all property records are listed from the states that are on board with missingmoney.com
Missingmoney.com states that the following types of unclaimed property can be found:
*Bank accounts and safe deposit box contents
*Stocks, mutual funds, bonds, and dividends
*Uncashed checks and wages
*Insurance policies, CD's, trust funds
*Utility deposits, escrow accounts
We were going to do a search, but we don't believe that the value of our stocks and home is going to be there. Just sayin'.
